How to get to Glastonbury

Glastonbury lies in the southwest of England, about 125 miles or 220km west of London and 28 miles or 40km south of the city of Bristol.

By road, it is best reached by the M3 and A303 from London and Heathrow airport - leave the A303 at Podimore roundabout (sign for A372 Langport), then soon after follow B3151 to Somerton and Street.

From the Midlands and North, take the M5 southwards and leave at Junction 23, west of Glastonbury - off-peak hours, it works fine to enter Bristol on the M32 and take the A37 to Wells.

If you've been to Glastonbury before, you're bored with the usual ways and you'd like to find out some interesting side-roads from London or the North, click here. They can take longer, but can be a good change.

Flights. You can also fly in direct to Bristol International Airport, from UK, Europe or Newark NJ. Then hire a car, catch an airport bus to Bristol, then bus 376 to Glastonbury, or find someone to give you a lift over the Mendip Hills to Glastonbury.

If arriving at London Heathrow, catch the Heathrow Express to London Paddington, then another train to Castle Cary or Bristol TM (see below). From London Gatwick, catch a train to Reading or London, then to Castle Cary or Bristol TM.

Twelve Hides and a few other things...

Trains go from London Paddington to Castle Cary (where a 10 mile taxi ride or a lift is needed) or to Bristol Temple Meads, from where the 376 bus (to Street/Yeovil) goes every hour during the day to Glastonbury. From other parts of Britain, get yourself to Bristol Temple Meads train station or Bristol bus station, and take First Bus 376.

You can also catch a National Express bus from London Victoria bus station, Heathrow airport and other places to the North directly to Glastonbury.

For information about these bus and train services, and booking, click through to the providers' websites above. Alternatively, find a magic carpet (get a ride with someone)!
